Best in Class 360 Product Photography Sofware
Iconasys 360 Product Photography Software is available in 4 different options – well 5 different options if purchasing an Iconasys 360 Product Photography Turntable. This blog post is to help customers understand differences in our 360 Product Photography Software features, functionality and output.
We like to take a consultative approach when working with customers and vow to deliver customers the exact solution(s) that will best fit their unique 360 product photography requirements. Often our first question is learning about customers current capabilities and studio set up. Common questions include:
- Are you currently shooting 360 product photography or is this a new venture?
- What kind of camera(s) do you shoot with?
- Do you currently have a 360 photography turntable? If so what kind (ex. motorized continuous spin, manually controlled etc.)
- Do you already have product photography studio lighting?
- Do you currently use any software for editing your product images?
- What type of products are you looking to photograph?
Based on the customers reply, we are able to guide them towards a 360 product photography software (compare 360 software options), and/or equipment options at different price points that will meet their needs. In this blog post we will break down each of the above questions to help you understand what software options might be best for your 360 product spin photography needs.

Are you currently shooting 360 product photography or is this a new venture?
The answer to this question will provide a lot of good initial feedback. Typically users who are shooting 360 product photography have some sort of equipment already to enable the 360 product image creation process. This can be something as simple as a lazy susan that they use to rotate products as they capture in 360, or can be more complex such as a competitor’s 360 turntable. If new to shooting 360 photography, the customer likely isn’t invested in any 360 product photography software nor equipment and will need a better understanding of what’s involved in creating 360 product images.

What kind of camera(s) do you shoot with?
Some 360 Product Image Creation Software options from Iconasys include camera control and will automate 360 product image capture with turntable movement. Included in these software’s if 4 photography turntable shooting modes that will integrate image capture with 3rd party turntable products. A complete list of cameras supported by Iconasys 360 Product Photography Software can be viewed here. Typically if a customer has a compatible camera (or if they’re looking for the fastest and most precise 360 product image capture workflow and willing to invest in a compatible camera (these start at about $320 USD with lens), then we will suggest either or Shutter Stream 360 Product Photography Software or our Shutter Stream 360 + Video Software.
Do you currently have a 360 photography turntable?
If so what kind (ex. motorized continuous spin, manually controlled etc.)
Per above, our Shutter Stream 360 Software’s (2 options) have built in support for automated 360 product image capture when working with a:
- Manual Photography Turntable
- Motorized Photography Turntable (continuous spin)
- Shutter Release Photography Turntable
- 3rd Party Arduino Based Photography Turntable
These shooting modes will automate camera snap based on user defined capture time, duration and number of frames (see how each turntable shooting mode works here). If looking for a computer-controlled turntable option, please see Iconasys 360 Photography Turntables.
For ex. see Manual Turntable Shooting Mode using Shutter Stream 360 Software:
If using a supported turntable type and looking for complete 360 product photography automation, again we would suggest either our Shutter Stream 360 or Shutter Stream 360 + Video Software.
Alternatively, users with a motorized turntable that spins at a fast and continuous rate, can consider converting 360 product videos into 360 product photography with the automated video record, upload, and frame extraction workflow in the Shutter Stream 360 Product Photography + Video Software.
Do you already have product photography studio lighting?
While this question doesn’t quite pertain to 360 product photography software, it does provide customer feedback and if interest, Iconasys can provider 360 product photography lighting options. Our lighting solutions are available in pre-configured lighting kits, studios, light box’s and piecemeal lighting. Lighting is a critical consideration when creating 360 product photography. In addition, some of our 360 photography software options include product photography background removal tools which require certain lighting conditions to be met in order to work effectively.

Do you currently use any software for editing your product images?
Typically customers will already have an image editing software (ex. Adobe Photoshop) to apply post production requirements for web and catalog ready images (ex. color correction, raw conversion, background removal etc..). Iconasys Shutter Stream Software’s include powerful image editing features that will allow users to manipulate images based on their requirements. The great thing about the image editing tools is they support batch image editing, that is make adjustments to a single image then apply the edits to the entire 360 product image set.
This can be a major time saver for users shooting 360 product photography – as manually editing a 360 capture set with 48 images could take all day (vs. ~1 minute in Iconasys Shutter Stream 360 Software’s). If a customer is looking for powerful batch image editing software, we will typically have them consider either our Shutter Stream 360 Captureless Software, Shutter Stream 360 or Shutter Stream 360 + Video.
What type of products are you looking to photograph?
While Iconasys 360 Product Photography Software will work well for objects of any size (ex. small jewelry to car photography), we like to have a better understanding of product types our customers will be shooting. This can allow us to provide more info, suggestions and feedback based on users requirements. For example, clients looking to shoot 360 Jewelry Photography might want to consider our software controlled LumiCube 360 Jewelry Photography Light Box.
So, what 360 Product Photography Software is best for your needs?
As highlighted above, the best 360 product photography software will be dependent on a number of variables. If users have a compatible camera, or are willing to purchase a compatible camera, we would strongly suggest either our Shutter Stream 360 or Shutter Stream 360 + Video Software as they will be able to automate many processes and create web-ready 360 product photography in just minutes. For those who already have a 360 shooting workflow and simply looking to compose and create 360 product view output, the 360 Product View Creator Software will be perfect. We are here to help answer questions and provide guidance if required.
