Photogrammetry of objects, also called image based modeling and rendering is a process where users capture a series of still images of a real world subject (ex a physical product) and use an application to create a digital model of that subject. There are many applications for Photogrammetry such as quality control, archaeology, engineering and manufacturing. Often the image capture and editing process is a time consuming task that requires a skilled user to shoot precise angles to create the image set that will be imported into the 3D modeling software.

Automated Turntables & Software for Photogrammetry
3D Image Capture Software: Iconasys 3D Image Capture Software is the designed for users of any skill level to easily and efficiently create 360 and 3D product image sets. This photography software takes a unique approach to creating 3D image sets as its completely turnkey – integrating camera control (image composition, capture and auto image upload), automated image editing, processing and output tools. The image capture portion of the software allows users to capture individual images and also has automated 360 turntable shooting modes to help streamline the imaging workflow for creating 3D Product Models with Photogrammetry. The software also supports multiple cameras if additional capture angles are required (ex. shoot with camera 1 at 15 degree angle to the subject and camera 2 at a 55-degree angle to the subject). The turntable shooting modes include, manual turntable, motorized turntable, shutter release turntable and our own USB controlled turntables which offer precise and automated capture at pre-defined angles (for ex. every 5-degrees). As images are captured, they are uploaded into the software where users can batch edit (if required). Editing includes an automated background removal feature that will strip products from their backgrounds in a batch process. Images can then be exported and processed in a batch process (JPG, TIFF, PNG or RAW format – PNG and TIFF images will retain transparent backgrounds) for use in any 3rd party 3D modeling software. The software also includes direct integration into AgiSoft PhotoScan.
3D Photography Turntables for 3D Modeling: Iconasys 3D Photography Turntables further streamline the imaging process for Photogrammetry/3D Modeling by automating the image capture sequence. Simply place the object in the center of the turntable, pre-compose the exposure of the image (done through included 3D Photography Software), define number of frames per 360 rotation, then hit Start. The software will then automate the imaging in a turn, stop, snap workflow – shooting images at exact angles (up to 0.03 degrees of accuracy) and auto upload images prior to capture into the software where users can batch edit (include batch background removal), process and output the image set (in JPG, TIFF, PNG or RAW image format). The resulting image set can then be uploaded into any Photogrammetry/3D Modeling application.
