Camera Control + Automated Still Product Photography Features
Included with the Shutter Stream 360 and Shutter Stream 360 + Video Software is the ability to automate still product photography workflows. This section highlights the still product photography image composition and capture tools included for still imaging.
Live View + Camera Settings Adjustment
Live View will stream a large real time preview of what the camera sees to the main viewing window in the center of the Shutter Stream UI. This is the first step every user will take prior to capturing an image. Live View will enable all image composition tools (Camera Settings, Crop, Overlay, Rotate and Snap) and is very beneficial to users as they are able to see how their image will look prior to even capturing the photo. While in Live View, users have the ability to adjust Camera Settings and view the exposure simulation in real time on the monitor screen. Camera Setting changes can be made to: Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO, Exposure, White Balance and Flash. Users can set and save multiple custom Camera Setting Profiles to allow businesses consistent shooting results and maximum ease of use for users with little photography skill. In addition to camera settings, users can adjust focal point through mouse clicks should they chose to capture images in Manual Focus mode.
Pre-Crop Subject
Crop gives users the option to Pre-Crop their subject while in Live View mode – before even capturing the image. Users will click and drag their Crop marker over their subject and as the image is captured, it will instantly be cropped. Users can define the Crop in a specific ratio (Square or Custom Ratio) if required. For example, if images are required at 800 x 500 pixels for your website, you will want to Crop at a 8 x 5 ratio (and when outputting your images from the program, resize to 800 pixels wide). Crop cannot be applied to RAW image format.
Image Overlay
The Image Overlay feature enables users to achieve consistent product placement and shooting angles. Users will create an Overlay while in Live View mode and by doing so, a semi-transparent image will be placed overtop the Live View window that can be used to help guide your next product’s placement. Multiple Image Overlays can be created and saved into the program the enabled at any time. This feature is ideal for website and catalog product photography in which consistent shooting angles are required.
Rotate
Users can Rotate the Live View perspective 90, 180 or 270-degrees. As images are captured, they will also be uploaded into the Shutter Stream 360 program in the same perspective. The Rotate feature is ideal for when the camera is rotated to shoot in portrait mode for tall and skinny products or objects such as a models and mannequins.
Snap
The Snap feature will send a command to the camera through USB to capture the image. The image is captured (with the set Crop) in a fraction of a second then sent back to the Shutter Stream program and uploaded within seconds for viewing, editing, processing and output. Images can be captured in JPG and/or RAW format.
Users can also choose to auto-apply edits, background removal tools and even auto export immediately after capture. See Still + 360 Editing tab for additional info.
Focus Stacking
Focus Stacking is primarily designed for Macro Photography (ex Jewelry Photography) and will allow users to capture fully in focus images. The process is completely automated, users simply set near and far focal points through the software, the number of frames to be captured during the stack and the Render Settings (render method, radius and smoothing). After hitting ‘Start’ the process will be automated. Focus Stacking is available through the focus stacking plugin (optional purchase).

360 Product Photography Composition & Capture Features
Included with Shutter Stream 360 & Shutter Stream 360 + Video Software’s is an automated 360 product photography shooting mode. This section highlights 360 image composition tools and the automated 360 capture modes.
Live View
Live View will stream a large real time preview of what the camera sees to the main viewing window in the center of the Shutter Stream UI. This is the first step in the 360 product photography workflow. While in Live View users will want to place their object in the center of the turntable and pre-rotate while watching on the monitor to ensure the object has been positioned correctly. It is much easier to ensure an object is spinning on axis when viewing on the monitor from the cameras point of view.
Camera Settings Adjustment
Users have the ability to adjust Camera Settings through mouse clicks and view the exposure simulation in the Live View window on the monitor screen. Camera Setting changes can be made to: Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO, Exposure, White Balance and Flash. After a user has set their camera settings, these can be saved and retained from shot to shot to ensure for consistent image exposure when shooting 360 product photography
Set & Fix Focal Point
In addition to camera settings, users can adjust focal point through mouse clicks and fix this so the same focal point will be used for every shot in the 360 shooting sequence. A consistent focal point is especially important in 360 product photography.
Pre-Crop Subject
Cropping is something users will almost always be required to do in 360 product photography. Traditionally, this is a step that is done in image editing software after a set of images has been captured and it can be a timely process too – trying to crop a set of images to the exact same size and ratio can be a demanding and timely process. Shutter Stream 360 Product Photography Software provides users the ability to Pre-Crop their subject while in Live View mode – before even capturing an image. Users will click and drag their Crop marker over their subject in the Live View window and then rotate the turntable to ensure the object is not falling outside the crop markers as it rotates. After the crop has been set, as images are captured, they will instantly be cropped – the best part – the crop is retained from shot to shot – to ensure for consistent cropping in every image. Users can define the Crop in a specific ratio (Square or Custom Ratio) if required. Crop cannot be applied to RAW image format.
Image Overlay
The Image Overlay feature can be used as a tool to help users position objects correctly in the center of the turntable when shooting 360 product photography. Users will create an Overlay of an object (ideally one that has been positioned correctly) while in Live View mode and by doing so, a semi-transparent image will be placed over top the Live View window that can be used to help guide your next product’s placement. Multiple Image Overlays can be created and saved into the program the enabled at any time
360 Image Capture
Both Shutter Stream 360 softwares support automated 360 shooting modes designed for use with a variety of 360 photography turntables. These include:
Iconasys Computer Controlled Photography Turntable: How it Works Video
Manual Photography Turntable: How it Works Video
Motorized Photography Turntable: How it Works Video
Shutter Release Photography Turntable: How it Works Video
By clicking Snap in the program, it will send a command to the camera through USB to capture the image. The image is captured (with the set Crop) in a fraction of a second then sent back to the software and uploaded within seconds for viewing. The software will retain all important variables (Camera Settings, Focal Point and Crop) to ensure users of any skill level are able to create high quality image set over a 360 rotation. Images can be captured in JPG and/or RAW format.
360 Image Focus Stacking
This feature is ideal for shooting jewelry, gemstones and other types of Macro 360 Product Photography. The software from Iconasys automates the 360 Focus Stacking Photography workflow by creating a sequence of focus stacked images as an items rotates over a 360 rotation (requires the Iconasys Focus Stacking plugin).

With an Iconasys turntable (see video to the right), users can define turntable spin rate, direction and capture degrees (amount of rotation to capture for ex. 360-degrees or 490-degrees). Video record start/stop and turntable start/stop is auto triggered via the software. When working with a 3rd party turntable, users are required to manually start/stop video record.
Real-Time Preview
The real time preview will stream a live view of what the camera sees to the main viewing window in the center of the Shutter Stream Software. This is the first step in the 360 product video creation workflow. While in Live View users will want to place their object in the center of the turntable and pre-rotate while watching on the monitor to ensure the object has been positioned correctly. It is much easier to ensure an object is spinning on axis when viewing on the monitor from the cameras point of view.
Camera Video Settings Adjustments
Users have the ability to adjust Camera Video Settings through mouse clicks and view the exposure simulation in the Live View window on the monitor screen. Camera Setting changes can be made to: Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO, Exposure and White Balance. Upon upload into the software, the video file is read for a total frame count (ex. 10 second video shot at 30 frame per second (FPS) = 300 total frames). Users can import the entire set of frames or choose to downsample, that would be only extract every Xth frame. Using the above example, say for example users which to create a 360 view with 30 frames, they will choose to downsample at a factor of 10 (300/10=30 total frames). After frames have been extracted, users can batch edit, process and output the 360 product image set and/or a web-ready 360 product view in various formats.
